QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Master's Degree in Education
  2. Valid Ohio Administrator License
  3. Three (3) years teaching experience in public schools
  4. Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks
  5. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license or have transportation to off-site job related functions

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

Under administrative direction, provides leadership in grant management, security, supervision and evaluation of staff; public relations; and planning and delivery of special focus projects

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The below list is not ranked in order of importance.)

 

  1. Ensures safety of students, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  2. Assists in coordination of hiring personnel
  3. Coordinates property records necessary to account for and control the program equipment and supplies
  4. Coordinates afterschool activities under the supervision of the Superintendent and/or Grants Administrator. Oversight including arranging staff coverage, and oversight of staff timesheets and leave requests. Assists in the development and/or revision of implementation plans and procedures for afterschool services
  5. Coordinates and monitors employee performance appraisal process.
  6. Develops programming and provide oversight of personnel, compliance with cooperative programs, alternative programs
  7. Coordinates all afterschool programming.
  8. Respect the confidentiality of children, families and staff
  9. Supervises and evaluates support staff
  10. Plans and manages use of office equipment and supplies
  11. Coordinates public relations and marketing strategies
  12. Assists the principal in the preparation of department and office budgets
  13. Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development, keeping current in literature, research and techniques.
  14. Assures American Disabilities Act, Affirmative Action, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance
  15. Maintains required license(s)
  16. Accepts assignments that require travel at state and national level with possible overnight stay
  17. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
  18. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment at the Center.
  19. Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
  20. Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Collaborates with community businesses and agencies on special projects involving the schools
  2. Assists in the development of afterschool activities calendar
  3. Participates in in-service training as deemed appropriate
  4. Performs all other duties as required or requested by the Superintendent and/or Grants Administrator

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Typical office setting; on occasion will be required to load and unload supplies, materials and equipment for off-site projects

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:

 

Thorough knowledge of board policies and procedures; public relations and marketing strategies; school administration and employment practices including state and federal laws; recruitment, supervision, evaluation and human resource management; grant proposal preparation; and advanced knowledge of current trends and issues in education

 

SKILLS IN:

 

Management; organization; planning; leadership; communication; problem solving; and word processing

 

ABILITY TO:

 

Organize, plan, implement, and lead projects and personnel; manage multiple responsibilities with flexibility; interpret and administer board policy; develop a rapport with staff, co-workers, local school personnel and the public; interview; supervise; counsel; evaluate; communicate effectively

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

 

Typical school technology as well as assistive technology (e.g., communication devices, etc.)

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Dates of the work period will be stated in the employment contract

 

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:

 

The Associate principal will be evaluated by the superintendent or his or her designee in accordance with the procedures identified by law and including the standards established by the organization. The employee will be given a copy of the evaluation instrument and standards in advance and he or she will be expected to conduct a self-evaluation and establish a minimum of one goal annually to advance knowledge, skill and/or ability in a job related area.
